ABOUT THE ARTIST
Abdias Armenteros (Tenor and Soprano Saxophones, Clarinet) began playing saxophone at age eight. The Miami native attended the New World School of the Arts High School, whose jazz band received top honors at JALC’s Essentially Ellington competition in 2016. Armenteros has attended such prestigious summer programs as the Brubeck Summer Jazz Colony and Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Summer Jazz Academy. He earned his bachelor’s degree in jazz studies at the Juilliard School, where he’s currently pursuing his master’s degree. Armenteros has shared the bandstand with such world-renowned artists as Wynton Marsalis, Ben Vereen, Aloe Blacc, Victor Lewis, and Arlo Parks, and performs regularly across New York City.
