Alexa Tarantino

Triple-nominated as Rising Star Alto Saxophonist in the DownBeat Critics Poll and named in the top five alto saxophonists of 2019 for the JazzTimes Critics Poll, Alexa Tarantino (Alto and Soprano Saxophones, Flute, Clarinet) tours worldwide with Cécile McLorin Salvant, Artemis, and her own quartet. She appears frequently with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. Her works consistently top radio charts and her discography includes more than 25 releases as a leader and collaborator. Tarantino serves internationally as a clinician, mentor, and coach; she earned a master’s degree in music from the Juilliard School and bachelor’s degrees in jazz saxophone performance and music education with a certificate in arts leadership from the Eastman School of Music. Tarantino is a Vandoren Artist and a Yamaha Performing Artist; she endorses BAM Instrument Cases.
