ABOUT THE ARTIST
Chris Lewis (Tenor and Soprano Saxophones, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet) has been a member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis since 2025. Lewis has performed with luminaries including Herbie Hancock, Eric Reed, Terell Stafford, Ben Wolfe, Jegg “Tain” Watts, and Michael Bublé, and is regularly called upon by his contemporaries Julius Rodriguez, Aaron Diehl & Sean Mason. He has appeared with many of today’s premiere large ensembles, including the Maria Schneider Orchestra, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, the Mingus Big Band, the Count Basie Orchestra, John Beasley’s MONK’estra, and The Gil Evans Project. Additionally, Lewis is often featured in Broadway productions and televised performances, including Just in Time and The Tony Awards. A dedicated educator, Lewis teaches students of all ages. He is on faculty with Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Summer Jazz Academy and the Litchfield Jazz Camp, offering his expertise in saxophone, improvisation, and ensemble performance. Lewis continues to help shape the next generation of jazz artists as a guest artist, clinician, adjudicator, and private instructor with students worldwide. Chris Lewis holds a bachelor's of music in jazz studies from Temple University and a master's of music in jazz studies from the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz. He is proud to be a Vandoren Artist.
