Anat Cohen: Journeys A 50th Birthday Celebration
ABOUT THE CONCERT
For her 50th birthday celebration, Grammy-nominated clarinetist, saxophonist, and composer Anat Cohen brings different combinations of her compelling ensemble to the Appel Room. Spotlighting her broad mastery of jazz—from early swing styles through post-bop expressions—and her deep immersion in choro and other Brazilian traditions, this eclectic performance also nods to klezmer, rock, and chamber music.
Cohen leads listeners on a sonic journey from solo, duo with 7-string guitarist Marcello Gonçalves, and small ensemble contexts up through her Grammy Award Nominated Tentet, in addition to her brother and frequent collaborator, trumpeter Avishai Cohen.
