Journey Through Jazz Part VII: The JLCO with Wynton Marsalis

ABOUT THE CONCERT

Experience the enduring magic of the swing song tradition, where vibrant melodies and rich storytelling come alive. Co-led by JLCO saxophonists Sherman Irby and Chris Lewis, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra reimagines the golden era when singers and small ensembles redefined the big band sound.

This edition of Journey Through Jazz—part of the Lynne and Richard Pasculano Jazz Series—transports you from Billie Holiday’s early masterpieces to modern interpretations, all brought to life by JLCO’s masterful musicians. Featuring the captivating vocals of Kate Kortum and the artistry of guitarist James Chirillo, this performance honors the legacy of the late Phil Schaap, Jazz at Lincoln Center's resident historian, whose passion helped preserve this remarkable genre.

Join us for an evening where history swings, stories unfold, and the music moves you.
