WeBop Family Jazz Party: Iconic Women in Jazz!
ABOUT THE CONCERT
Join Ms. Sofía and the WeBop Family Jazz Band for a show celebrating the fearless female pioneers of jazz! You and your family will dance and sing along to an all-women jazz band as you learn about Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, and the many other courageous ladies who’ve paved the way for women in jazz.
WeBop Family Jazz Parties are designed for children ages 8 months – 8 years but all are welcome to jam with us!
All attending adults and children must have their own ticket for this performance. Non-walking babies do not need a ticket.

WHAT CAN WE EXPECT TO EXPERIENCE DURING A WEBOP FAMILY JAZZ PARTY?
Our fun, interactive and engaging WeBop Family Jazz Parties are led by our very own WeBop teachers, and supported by a live jazz band, frequently including a horn, piano, bass, and drums. While best suited for children 8 months– 8 years, these parties are enjoyable at ANY age! We encourage dancing, clapping, and moving in response to the music. Young children do that naturally and intuitively and we also ask you to participate actively along with your child. After all, you are your child’s first teacher, and they learn best by playfully imitating what you do. When your child sees you having fun swinging, bopping, and scatting, they will join in!
ARE CHILDREN PLAYING ANY INSTRUMENTS DURING THE PERFORMANCE?
We encourage you and your child to participate in all the singing and movement activities that make WeBop Family Jazz Parties so engaging. We do not provide instruments for our young jazz fans to play, but your child will be surrounded by outstanding artists and exposed to a variety of instruments and incredible live music.
ARE THERE DESIGNATED SEATS?
Our WeBop Family Jazz Parties are held in the Ertegun Atrium, the largest open space available in Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall which overlooks Central Park! We invite you and your child to sit on the large carpet right in front of the live band, and to move freely as the music moves you! Additionally, enough chairs for all attendees will be available on a first come first served basis.
CAN I BRING MY STROLLER TO THE VENUE?
We provide free stroller valet parking located next to the Ertegun Atrium entrance.
CAN I BRING FOOD TO THE VENUE?
We invite your child to have a snack or drink some water as needed during the performance in the chair-seating area, but please avoid bringing food to the designated carpet area. Additionally, we will have a bar with drinks and snacks (for adults and our young jazz fans) available for purchase.
