The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, under the music direction of drummer Domo Branch, presents Overtures to Africa, a concert that delves into the profound influence of African culture on jazz, highlighting the works of legends such as Charles Mingus, Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, and Max Roach.
Domo Branch, known for his dynamic drumming and innovative approach, brings a fresh perspective to the JLCO's exploration of African roots in jazz. His leadership ensures a vibrant and engaging experience, blending historical context with contemporary interpretations.
Part of the Journey Through Jazz concert series, this concert will be performed in the intimate setting of The Appel Room with a stunning Manhattan skyline backdrop.
